Reshaped: Day 18 - Corrie ten Boom

Several Jews sought refuge at the ten Boom home, but there was limited space and even less resources. With a strong determination, Corrie became involved with in an underground movement that hid and transported Jews to safety.

To transform their home, a “Mr. Smit” came to the door of the Beje to assess the walls in Corrie’s bedroom. He took measurements and determined where he could build a wall over an existing wall creating a hiding space for the Jews. Once the wall was erected, everyone in the house performed drills to hide the Jews in record time in case the Gestapo came for an inspection. Extra ration cards were cleverly secured to feed the guests. On average six people were hidden in the ten Boom home until they could be safely moved.

It was an uneasy frightening situation. But God’s people were being protected from the evil forces that sought their ruin.

Through Corrie’s bold personality, she became a Dutch resistance leader. She was pivotal in the underground movement that stretched to the furthest reaches of Holland.
