Ruth 1:1-22, 4:13-17
SUMMARY:
Have you ever felt uncertain? Whether you were uncertain about the distant future, or about what decision to make in the moment, you know uncertainty can be scary. There’s a woman in the Bible who would agree.
Naomi moved with her husband and two sons to a foreign country. But shortly afterward, her husband and sons all tragically died, leaving Naomi all alone. She was devastated, and her faith in God was shaken, but God wasn’t done with Naomi. Uncertain about her future, she decided to return to her home country.
Surprisingly, her daughter-in-law Ruth decided to come with her — but that was just the first of many surprises God had in store. Although Naomi was certain God had abandoned her, God never did. Instead, Naomi learned what you may need to learn if you’re facing uncertainty: that God can redeem our past and always knows our future, even we feel lost.
