Wednesday Night Men’s Thought
There are many different types of games…video games, board games, word games, card games…
Why do we like to play games… could it be because we like to win…
How do we determine if we win or lose a game? A set of rules…
A set of rules or guidelines….things that are true…usually a manual…directions
There are rules for everything in life if we want to see success…
Has anyone ever built a house?
Please read this scripture Luke 6:46-49
The Wise and Foolish Builders
46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed, and its destruction was complete.”
Pressure is coming…from the things we pile up on our foundation…
A flood….a multitude of waters, the swelling of the sea; or rather “when it was tide”, as the word here used signifies
It’s the tide that rises and falls each day…like rules in a game
the waters pound the house like crazy….
what is He talking about?
He is talking about temptations of Satan, the persecutions of the world, the corruptions of men’s hearts, and the errors and heresies of false teachers:
But they could not shake it…the firm foundation that was built…
Both men in the story built houses…
Both men put work into a safe place…
Both men heard the same truths…
So what’s the point…
God bless you this week, please feel free to comment below

- Without digging deep and laying the ground work what happens to whatever it is your building?
